Transportation Infrastructure Design

 

Opus has undertaken an extensive range of projects involving the design of transportation infrastructure.   Successful projects have included facilities for urban and rural roading, motorways, rail, bus, cyclist and pedestrian transportation modes.

The design alignment of transportation routes, corridors and connections needs to effectively integrate with the geographic context whether it is urban, rural or the natural landscape.  The featured projects highlight a range of such contexts.  The Wellington Inner City Bypass and Northern Busway projects illustrate road and public transport improvements in an urban environment.  Kaitoke to Te Marua Realignment and Candy's Bend illustrate successful improvements in environmentally sensitive areas.

Opus was commissioned to investigate and design the Wellington Inner City Bypass as a means of reducing congestion by diverting traffic around the Wellington central business district.

Candy's Bend, Otira Gorge, New Zealand

This project involved 850m of State Highway reconstruction in an alpine environment.  The existing highway is a strategically important link, single lane over much of its length, running through a National Park.
