When the surge tank of Mighty River Power’s Aratiatia Hydro Power Station required seismic strengthening, the generation company originally expected the work would cause costly disruption to its operations.  But the innovative solutions provided by Opus engineers, using new measures to analyse the earthquake risk, saved the company $NZ1 million in actual costs and a whole lot more from being able to maintain uninterrupted power generation.
