Expanding mining operations at Macraes gold

We carried out landscape, visual and archaeology assessments for Oceanagold’s resource consent application, to expand their mining operations at the Macraes gold mine.

The resource consent for the final phase of the Macraes Gold Project required OceanaGold to:

  • Define anticipated effects on landscape and heritage aspects
  • Provide validated technical reports to support the project’s Assessment of  Environmental Effects (AEE)
  • Provide expert evidence at council hearings.

Working closely with OceanaGold, we understood the timing pressures around completing the resource consent process efficiently while gold was holding its value in the market. We have a lot of expertise in this area and were able to carry out the assessments within a very tight timeframe.

The quality of our work helped OceanaGold to get consent with realistic conditions.
