This audit looked at electricity and gas usage at the Manukau Police Hub

The audit drew on data from electrical loggers and records from energy provides to give Police a detailed view of their energy use and costs.

Opus carried out an audit of electricity and gas usage for this new Police Hub in Manukau. We installed electrical data loggers and analysed these records along with energy provider gas and electricity metering information, to find out energy use by service, and the cost.

We had recently been working on the Counties Manukau Police building, opened just 12 months earlier. The corner site at Wiri Station Road and Barrowcliffe Place had been earmarked for a new police station for several years due to its proximity to the court buildings.

Our innovative design made the most of the site’s location and improved processes within the station. The design team worked closely with the Police and the Council to ensure the new station provided leading edge facilities and complemented Manukau City’s framework for the future.

The energy audit was a logical progression and looked at consumption patterns, comparing by time of day and day of week. It found that the building was generally performing very efficiently. The team recommended some initiatives to help Manukau Police to maintain maximum energy efficiency.
