- Gary Porteous, Transportation Asset Management Consultant, Victoria, Canada
Throughout 2009 Gary has tirelessly delivered operations, maintenance and rehabilitation advisory services to the British Columbia Ministry of Transport (BCMoT) on a number of significant transportation projects in British Columbia including Port Mann/Highway 1, South Fraser Perimeter Road, Golden Ears Bridge and Sea-to-Sky Highway.
Gary is well respected and has excellent rapport with many BCMoT staff, and is sought for his technical knowledge, experience and advice in relation to operations, maintenance and rehabilitation on large scale design, build operate, finance (DBFO) and public private partnerships (PPP or P3) projects.
Gary’s' strong commitment, dedication and influence have ensured that Opus continues to retain its position and standing with BCMoT as a trusted advisor.
- Paul Cannons, Work Group Manager, Milton, Queensland, Australia
Paul Cannons is Opus’ Project Manager for a panel contract we have with Logan City Council. In this role he is responsible for client management, bidding for project work, and managing projects awarded to Opus. This contract provides a staple work load for the Milton office. Accordingly Paul’s role is critical to maintaining a strong client relationship, ensuring timely and quality delivery, and maximising Opus’ share of the work available. Over the past year Paul has performed beyond expectation, specifically:
- Nurtured a strong relationship with several key decision makers that has contributed to our line share of project work
- Expanded Opus’ service offerings beyond the local capability by incorporating resources from outside the Milton business and Queensland region
- Expressing enthusiasm and motivating staff into bidding new work
- Keeping clients and internal Opus management informed on success, project status, and client issues; and
- Possessing an inherent drive for success
Paul constantly demonstrates and lives Opus' values and is a role model for others to follow.
- Royce Greaves, Project Manager, Nelson, New Zealand
Royce is the Project Leader for a number of projects including the very successful Trafalgar Park upgrade project. This specific project incorporates a number of quite separate elements of infrastructural building and ground improvements to make Trafalgar Park (main enclosed sports field for Nelson region) suitable for both the Rugby World Cup in 2011 and the future of the community beyond.
The client has a clear budget constraint but an open need to achieve both some specific criteria for the Rugby World Cup and reinvigorate the park for the future of the community.
With a strong desire to deliver the client’s needs Royce established a delivery approach which has provided the client with their needs in respect to reporting, tracking, and confidence.
Not only does Royce provide outstanding service delivery he inspires the others around him, in his projects or workgroup, to improve their delivery. His approach has invigorated a number of individuals and he is now mentoring a number of our developing project managers to assist in improving the service offered across Opus.
- Jack McConchie, Principal Water Resources Scientist, Wellington, New Zealand
Jack's specialisations are in hydrology, groundwater and geomorphology. He has proved to be a respected and highly skilled and versatile consultant in the water resources area. His presence in our business has been crucial to maintaining a credible water resources/hydrology market. Jack has been instrumental in expanding the discipline area of the water resources team in Opus, adding a land management aspect to its capability. He has raised the Opus profile giving evidence at resource consent hearings for irrigation takes, and providing support to farmers groups on geomorphologic hearing issues.
Jack consistently receives good feedback from clients. While he often works as part of a team in delivering some of these projects a lot of the comment is from clients where he has prepared evidence or reports for environment hearings or the environment court.
- Niketi Toataua, Maori Business Services Consultant, Hamilton, New Zealand
Niketi exemplifies our goal to become a trusted advisor to all our clients. He thoroughly understands the issues for our clients and for Maoridom, and goes the extra mile to consistently deliver high quality service in his role with the Maori services team.
Niketi has become the iwi consultation trusted advisor for the NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) in Hamilton and now in Wellington, and is often specifically requested by the client to be involved. He also continues to be a trusted advisor for Rotorua District Council and this has led to further work opportunities for the whole team.
Niketi is relentless in his promotion of Opus and the search for work opportunities for not only Maori business services, but across all of Opus' services, including environmental, civil and architecture.
