Opus International Consultants announced today the appointment of two new Directors, Keith Watson and Fraser Whineray, both Auckland based businessmen who have considerable experience in international and customer focused businesses.
Keith Watson is currently Managing Director of Hewlett Packard New Zealand (HP) and has held general management roles with HP in Australia, Asia Pacific and at HP Corporate Headquarters where he was Senior Vice-President and General Manager Worldwide Commercial Channels.
Before returning to HP New Zealand in 2001 he was Executive Vice President Worldwide Sales and Marketing for Silicon Graphics. He has considerable international leadership experience in technology related and professional services business. He is a Member of the Auckland University Business School Advisory Board.
Fraser Whineray is currently Director Operational Improvement for Carter Holt Harvey. Prior to this he held a number of senior positions in the dairy industry, including the New Zealand Dairy Board, Fonterra and the Puhoi Valley Cheese Company.
Between 1997 and 2002 he was an investment banker with Credit Suisse First Boston, based in Wellington and Sydney. He has considerable experience in competitive businesses, professional services, strategy and innovation. Mr Whineray has an MBA from Cambridge University, and a Bachelor of Chemical and Process Engineering (Hons) from the University of Canterbury.
In announcing the two appointments, retiring Chairman, Basil Logan said both Mr Watson and Mr Whineray will bring very valuable skills to the Opus Board.
Keith Watson will take up his position on the board on the 1 September 2008, and Fraser Whineray will take up his position on the 13 October 2008. They will join the current seven directors under the leadership of newly appointed Chairman, Kerry McDonald. Mr McDonald (currently Deputy Chairman) was elected to succeed Basil Logan on his retirement on 31 August.
