Leading infrastructural engineering and architecture consultancy, Opus International Consultants has appointed Glen Hughes to the position of Southern Regional Manager, based in Christchurch.

Mr Hughes, who was formerly Manager of Opus' Wanganui office, and most recently Acting Regional Manager, Wellington, took up his new role following the appointment of former Regional Manager, Trevor Crawley, to the position of Director UK, based in Bristol.

In announcing the appointment of Glen Hughes, Opus Chief Executive, Dr Kevin Thompson, said Opus had a long and proud history in the South Island, with links to much of the infrastructure that has helped shape and develop the region, and a link that Opus wished to maintain.

"As well as the local and asset development authorities we provide services for, we see increasing opportunities in the private sector in the South Island and Mr Hughes will continue to assist in developing these opportunities through building on our excellent reputation for innovative solutions and the delivery of quality services in this region," said Dr Thompson. "As well as seeking new business and building relationships with both existing and future clients, Glen will provide leadership for the other ten offices in this region and work very closely with our staff."

As Southern Regional Manager for New Zealand, Mr Hughes will have responsibility for Opus' business operations in the Canterbury, West Coast, Otago and Southland regions.
