Newcastle Business Manager, Hugh Tait won the award for ‘Young Achiever of the Year' at the Hunter Business Excellence Awards. Under Hugh's leadership, Opus' Newcastle office was also a finalist in the ‘Small Business Excellence' category of the awards.
Opus won two Awards of Merit at the ACENZ INNOVATE NZ Awards for the Eden Park Street Lighting and the Dunedin 3 Waters Strategy projects. Both projects epitomise absolute excellence. The Dunedin 3 Waters Strategy project has been recognised internationally as demonstrating best practice in advanced asset management, and the Eden Streetlighting project involves a state-of-the-art LED technology and intelligent wireless remote management system -a first in New Zealand for large scale road lighting installations.
The Carterton Events Centre was awarded the Timber Design Award in the Engineering Excellence category for innovative use of engineered timber resulting in a distinctive technical/structural impact on a commercial, industrial, or public building environment.
Opus International Consultants (Opus), together with JV partner, Arup, has been awarded a significant Client Support Term Contract for road network management services for Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) in the UK.
The contract is subject to a 10-day challenge period, after which Opus expects confirmation of the award. This is a seven-year contract with the option of a five-year extension and will immediately increase the Opus team in the UK by over 100 people.
The Carterton Events Centre was awarded the INGENIUM Excellence Award for Public Infrastructure in the category of projects from $2m - $10m. The Carterton Events Centre incorporates a leading-edge “Pres Lam” earthquake protection system (as designed by researchers at the University of Canterbury, NZ) and is only the second time it has been used worldwide, and the first in this form. This was a multi-disciplinary project involving a wide range of disciplines.
