The new studio for Opus Architecture, in the atrium level of the Majestic Centre in Wellington, has been recognised for a New Zealand Institute of Architects (NZIA) Award in the category “Interior Architecture”.
In their citation the judges said the new studio was deftly spliced into a complex multi-level atrium space that meets the challenges of the extreme light, thermal and acoustic conditions. The interior design is inspirational and successfully integrates with the site over a number of levels providing an energetic working studio without loosing its corporate identity.
The studio was created in the existing podium of the Majestic Centre and is arranged over three split levels. The 370 sq m fit out transformed the secondary public circulation space into a new reception, meeting room and open plan office.
